Collage—The Art of Transformation
This class is the perfect opportunity to finally use those papers, images, and odds and ends stashed away in your house. We’ll integrate both disparate and complimentary small fragments into new compositions. We’ll ask questions, learn about adhesives, transform materials and ideas into new forms, new stories, while enjoying the play of creativity. See the Art League Store for materials list.
Winter Semester Wednesdays 1:15 - 4:15pm (5 weeks) — February 1 - 28, 2012
Sculpture from Scrap
Through the play of collecting and sculpting, students will learn how to integrate materials and ideas into narrative 3-dimensional forms. Participants combine architectural fragments and other objects using adhesives and fasteners, shaping where necessary. Creative thinking and working from the heart are primary goals.
Sundays 1:00pm - 4:00pm (5 weeks) - January 29 - February 26, 2012
Creating your Niche--Box Assemblage Weekend Workshop
Boxes are intriguing because they may subtly reveal or deliberately showcase a particular object, idea or story. Perhaps this is why artist Cornell, Tawney, and Westerman were so taken with this medium. Class participants use small collected objects, photos, papers, and collage techniques to transform a small box or drawer into a niche box. Both the inside and outside of the box are addressed. Students bring printed imagery/photos, unusual papers and collected objects, and a wood or thin metal box. A $5 materials fee is payable to the instructor. To register go to www.theartleague.org.
